Fics like Sweet Tooth, Take a Bite

JJ drinks his beer and heads over to the table when John B. tells him to get his ass up, offers to be the one to cut the pies. Starts divvying out slices onto plates. Cracks jokes and feels a flame of pride every time one of his friends laughs, every time he gets them to smile. He stands there, full of warmth and joy and love, and he thinks: if this were the last Christmas he’d ever have, that would be okay. For a long, long time, Christmas is something bitter for JJ. Bitter, before it's something sweet.
