Fics like Linger

In a forest forgotten to time, where the magic floating through air was as dense as the trees, a single cabin sat. The witch who lived there was as magic as the forest around him, forced to live as an outcast alongside his wolf familiar, whose eyes were as green as his own. In the deepest grasp of winter, hidden from view, the patron spirit of winter drifted. He did his job infallibly, bringing ice and snow and death and destruction to the land each year. To keep the storms at bay, he kept moving, never settling, never lingering. But, every so often, a tug on his magic drew him to a forest forgotten to time, where the magic felt like a hug from a forgotten friend. One season, Jack finds the forest suddenly occupied by a witch and his familiar, who – for the first time in his memory – is able to see him. When the bite of winter grows too strong for the witch, Jack is drawn in to help by forces he doesn’t fully understand, changing the course of both of their lives. Some world-building, some snowballs, some annoyed Toothless, some smut, some happily ever after. *edited to add art in epilogue 1/8/25*
