Fics like how do you feel? what do we do?

Arthur wakes up. So many of his memories lately start with this. He wakes up, and everything hurts, and John is saying something—but John’s not saying anything this time, and there’s someone in this room with Arthur that sounds a lot like his friend. -- John’s voice always rose and fell, low into a deep growling bass and high into a rough yell. But one constant, one word that never sounded different no matter the tone was how he said Arthur’s name. Emphasis on the ‘ar’ and ‘ur’, the ‘th’ in the middle always smooth like wind. Other people tended to hiss that sound, the ‘th’. With John, it seemed he knew exactly how to say it to make it glide. Based on all that, he deduced it was in fact John saying, “Arthur!”
