Fics like It Had To Be You

“You could join my company for the rest of the night. I may not be much, but I-“ “-am a far superior conversationalist in every way Colonel, I assure-“ her speech dropped as he placed his military jacket around her shoulders. “Oh,” she looked to her right finding him looking out to the water as if he hadn’t sacrificed his warmth. “Colonel I can’t steal your uniform.” “You can’t steal something freely given.” His honey eyes were warm on her face. A warmth spread through her stomach like a warm broth on a cold winter's day. She took in a cold gust of wind to settle the feeling looking back onto the water. “I wonder how the King would feel about that, sir.” She teased good-heartedly and was gratified to hear his laugh beside her. “On the contrary, my lady, I would be kicked out of our king’s military for not making sure a young woman was properly tended to.” ---- Or a fic that follows Colonel Brandon and Marianne from Elinors wedding onward. There are hurt feelings, jealousy, and a tendency to forget propriety. Enjoy!
