Andy hadn’t planned for this. Woody wasn’t even supposed to be here. He clutched the cowboy toy tighter, his fingers brushing against the fraying stitching on Woody’s vest. For as long as Andy could remember, Woody had been more than just a toy—he was a constant figure throughout his life, a friend. How could he just... give him away? “There’s a snake in my boot!” Bonnie’s voice interrupted. She was pointing at the toy clutched in Andy’s hand. “Wha—” The momentary confusion gave way to comprehension. How many times had he heard that sentence in his lifetime coming from his most special toy? Without thinking, he pulled the string tied to the toy’s voice box. And sure enough, here’s the lucky coincidence of Woody’s next line actually being: There’s a snake in my boot! Bonnie took that as confirmation that she was now entitled to take Woody, and Andy supposed she had the right to be after all, the whole point of this visit was to give away the toys he outgrew to Bonnie. Only. . . Woody was never supposed to be a part of it.
