Fics like (Going) Down in the Jungle

He’s not proud of himself in this moment. There’s the rub. A moment would have been okay; he could have kept it together, kept himself in check if it’d been a moment. But it’s not. It’s the whole night. He’s supposed to do this, to just lie here and not react, for the whole night. He already knows he won’t sleep. Next to him, there’s a slight shift and he almost flinches. God help me, he begs silently, despite not being a believer, which at least means he won’t be going to actual hell when he gives in. Having been cold for days, he’s now so hot he feels like he’s already there, but he daren’t take any more clothes off. That would not help matters, tempting as it is to expose a little bare skin to the cool verdant air. After a week in the jungle, Danny finds himself enduring a different kind of trial. It's hell, until it's not.
