Fics like Confessionals, Redux

The confessional is ill-made, a bit too small and a bit too large, edges irregular and corners untrued. But it is made with love and care by the last man alive who can use it as it was meant to be. No nails stick out; splintering beams are taped over; all surfaces are weathered by hands and feet and smoke. It is not the same box every loop, of course, nor does most of the structure last the length of a loop. But it is always the same confessional, even though the materials change, because the man inside is the same.
