Fics like Make You the Perfect Evening

For a reason he couldn't explain, Stan opened the journal, flipping to the page where Ford had once written about that same moth—Furcula scolopendrina….some nonsense about its lifecycle, how it only came out in summer, how he'd never managed to find one to pin. Here, in the dead of winter, the irony bit deep. Stan tossed the book aside and looked down at the moth, muttering, “Ford would've lost his mind if he saw you. Would’ve been halfway to gettin' you framed already.” The damn thing didn’t answer, of course. Stupid as it was, he scooped it up, its soft, fragile body nearly disappearing in his palm. He wasn’t gonna pin it for Ford or anything—Ford wasn’t even here, and Stan had more important crap to do. But still, he couldn’t leave it alone out here, where the wind would just carry it away like nothing. It was completely and utterly ridiculous. He did it anyway.
