Fics like They found a baby in the dumpster

D-16 has always liked to read about their species young. How to care for them, what they liked, how they acted so different from grown mecha because sparklings were small, a future promise, and in time they would grow. Because cogged mecha could grow. Unlike them. So D-16 liked to read about sparklings, and see them in the streets on the rare occasion that happened, playing with their carriers with such joy and freedom he couldn’t help but bask in the foreign happiness of something he would never experience. To envy from afar that type of love and blind trust none of them would ever know. Something they would never have. Something he should have never wished for. But then again, they should have never entered the Iacon 5000. And they should have never found a sparkling in the dumpster.
