In his state of death, his pallor had swallowed his freckles, but with life now returned, they speckled his skin like constellations Kyle couldn’t help but want to map out. The monster nodded, and, careful to keep his eyes to more respectable places, Kyle helped him shrug off the robe. As his fingers brushed the monster’s bare shoulders, Kyle could not resist letting them glide lower, resting on his chest above his heart. “You really are alive,” he said, awed as he felt the thrum of a heart beating beneath his fingers. Or a K2 Frankenstien retelling that nobody asked for.
