Fics like Certain Obscure Things

This is an alternate ending and extension of the story 'Fierce Midsummer All Ablaze' (which is now 'Part 1' of this series). In 'Fierce Midsummer', Mulder & Scully develop an agreement to attend events as each other’s ‘plus one’ over the years. In this story, 'Certain Obscure Things', Scully agrees to go as Mulder’s guest on a trip to Oxford, to visit his old friend and mentor John. It can be read as a standalone story, but it's probably more fun to read after reading 'Fierce Midsummer'. "As the plane reaches cruising altitude above the Eastern Seaboard, Scully takes a sip of her champagne, and looks at Mulder, fast asleep in the seat next to her. For once—in the unusual comfort of business class—he is able to sleep, and she is awake. 'Four days away together, no work,' she thinks." This is a completed story; further chapters will be posted as I complete the final edits.
