Fics like A Taste of Death

What was supposed to be a chance at a new life for Ria slowly turns into one of her worst nightmares. Trapped in a dilapidated fort with a group of mercenaries, only her brother Rith is left to stand by her side. But the group's dubious patron has his own sinister plans, and they involve Ria. “Who are you?” she breathed, the words lazy on her tongue, as if shy to come out. Another low chuckled, followed by a deeply drawn in breath. He stood directly behind her, too close for her to feel comfortable, too close for her liking. The warmth from his body should have met her, however there was nothing. Only the crackle and lingering heat of the fire burning in the hearth. “The patron,” he spoke, his voice now stronger and louder. Ria wondered once more, how Rith and Darius were able to sleep through this. “The master, they call me,” he added, now a sense of drama dripping from his voice. “But for you, Riana,” he paused while one of his slender fingers stroked an auburn strand of hair from her shoulder, “I am a giver of gifts.”
