Secrets, secrets, secrets — what a very tangled web they weave. In the dark heart of Gotham City, Dr. Maryam Ben Halimi, a medical examiner for the past two years, carries the burden of her own secrets, burdens from a past she has worked hard so very hard to bury… Her daily routine of grim autopsies is abruptly upended when a notorious serial killer begins terrorizing the city, leaving a trail of bodies that only adds to Gotham’s chaos. As the killings escalate, Maryam’s path crosses with the ever mysterious Batman, whose silent presence both disturbs and (unfortunately) intrigues her. Torn between her growing feelings for the vigilante and the increasingly dangerous nature of her work, Maryam finds herself navigating a treacherous landscape of lies and danger. The more she delves deeper into the investigation, the more the line between her professional duties and her personal demons blurs. The secrets she hides may be just as dark as the murders she’s trying to solve. And so, trust proves elusive and survival hinges on uncovering the truth, not only behind the grisly murders but also about the mysterious figure who haunts her nights and the darkness she’s kept locked away within herself.
