Fics like Trace Your Roots Back to the Ground

The house is a different colour than it was, a bright, cheery yellow instead of serene blue. The trees framing it are taller, thicker, limbs spreading wide over the car to kiss at the sky. It's been well maintained. It could almost be a different place. But, no. There are the single-board swings, weather aged and still hanging, where they'd caught their fingers between chain links and talked until dawn. There, a scarred divot in a maple trunk, perfectly at waist height, where they had tried to test their strength. Behind the house, midmorning sun glinting off its surface, the lake is the same as it always has been. As it always will be, long after the rest of them are gone and not just— Behind the front door, Seokjin knows, are the fractured pieces of what used to be his family. For the first time in a decade he will have to face them, and what happened. (Or: six friends get together to celebrate a birthday.)
