Fics like you were made in the image of god (i was not)

Shouko finds Itadori in the morgue, curled around the corpse. He has a habit of sleeping with his back to the door—no, with his body between the door and the corpse. Itadori is still smaller than the corpse. It hasn’t diminished any in death. He’s curled around it like he can tuck it into the space between his ribs. The very first night, she found him with his head on the corpse’s chest, his fingers interlaced with limp ones. His eyes were open, his skin pallid—not much better than the dead flesh under him. It’s better now. He looks quite alive; his slumbering body looks like a shield. Too late, murmurs a voice in her head, more exhausted than bitter. She can’t blame the boy for trying. God knows he would have tried in more drastic ways if he’d been allowed to. She saw his face, there at the end. “Itadori,” she calls quietly. Satoru refuses to rot; Yuuji refuses to let go.
