She guesses it’s because it’s a name she hadn’t muttered in so long, but she never thought she’d utter it again. “How’d you— what—” “Hi baby.” Her voice and term of endearment makes the hero’s heart jump, and Karina seems to know this with the way she smiles oh so innocently, but with their history, Winter knows the curve of her lips is a harbinger of something sinister. “Miss me?” It was already enough with heroic duties and a missing teammate, but when Winter's past comes crashing back down as Karina, her dear old lover, makes a sudden reappearance in her life, Winter panics more than she should be, not only because she’s alive, but so is their little past relationship.
