Fics like The Road to Freedom

As Scott and Johnny settle in at Lancer, Scott travels across the San Joaquin Valley to come to the aid of a former ranch hand, but instead he winds up incarcerated in a treacherous prison – and battling unresolved war memories. Johnny follows to rescue him, still wrestling with how to live his own new life, and he must choose which of his skills will rescue his brother – while trying to determine the loyalties of a mysterious, beautiful ally who may or may not be the corrupt town owner’s “woman.” An early Season One standalone piece that takes place sometime between Foley and Glory. "Melinda's thoughtful, researched writing draws you into a very authentic western 1870s world. Her knowledge of the original characters keeps it true to Lancer with a wonderful helping of humour that is individual to the character. Sure you will thoroughly enjoy the fruits of all her hard work." Lucy Taylor, Wales, UK
