Prince Benjamin is the youngest prince of the entire kingdom, which means barely any responsibility, but he still has any slave in the kingdom ready to wait on him hand and foot and yet, he chooses to do most things by himself. But even though his interactions with his kingdom’s slaves were limited, he had never met a slave quite as snarky as the stable boy, Max. If Max is forced to be subservient, he’s going to get as close to being punished as he can to annoy his betters as much as possible all while dealing with the reality of enslavement. Once Ben meets Max, his perception of his kingdoms slaves starts to shift the more he talks to the stable boy. The mindless, collared drones around the castle start to feel more human. Most importantly, the slave in the stable feels more like a friend as Ben and Max navigate what it means to have a real friendship, and eventually have to manage feelings for each other that could have dire consequences if discovered.
