Fics like The Missing Aren’t Missing, They’re Only Departed

Loki Grey is a genderfluid shapeshifter who has never actually gone by the name Harry Potter. So when their Hogwarts letter comes, nobody has any idea that the odd child causing chaos all around the castle is the chosen one they have been desperately trying to find. Meanwhile Loki is just doing her best to deal with the insanity involved in learning how to make friends that aren't snakes, figuring out if that potions teacher who hates him is actually secretly their dad, and, most of all, trying to stay alive in a world full of magic and very little common sense. In a world longing for the noble boy-who-lived to reappear and save them all from Voldemort, how will people handle their chosen one being Loki Grey- a traumatized child with a penchant for danger, complete disregard for rules and authority, and absolutely no intention of letting anybody tell them who to be.
