Fics like Annex: Snow-Catcher

How the mind tours the wreckage, over and over again as if its ruins were its own amusement park. Shibuya’s Crossing, Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City, Shinjuku’s Godzilla: still the same youthful faces, walking over his wild-torn heart. Survey the scars: death, betrayal, and take each overturned memory, stones gripped so tightly that Subaru’s palms bled from how hard he held on to them. The smallest details, Subaru knew them all. He’ll practice his pain until each miserable flagellation stops having any meaning. Until one day, Subaru could finally say he felt nothing. He’ll tell that man then, with the same indifference displayed: I don’t hate you, but I don’t love you either, and Subaru would mean every word. Now Subaru has no wish for anything else. The illusory smile, the deadly smirk. Same thing. Same man. Subaru will find him. Subaru will be the death of them both. Autumn 1997. Seven years after the conclusion of the Bet, Sumeragi Subaru is sent to investigate a case in Kanazawa.
