Fics like The Difference of a Promise

It is a certainty of life in the Four Cornered World that the dice will roll not only for grand events but over matters so small, even mortals will often overlook them. In this case a different roll of the dice allows an unremarkable wedding to take place in an unremarkable village, where otherwise it would not have. But as a result two children make a promise to each other, and years later this promise would alter the courses of two lives slowly but surely. And as it always does, the ripples of that change will spread too touch more lives still. Will these changes alter the course of the world? Who can say? But for the lives tied up with a man who chooses to slay Goblins rather than try to save the world, it will certainly make things interesting.
