Fics like learned helplessness (on birdcages)

The conversation Tim remembered the most from his first few months as Robin strangely wasn’t the brief before his first patrol, or even the conversation where he’d convinced Batman to take him on. It was the one they’d had after the first time he’d been almost-kidnapped... “What’s most important of all is that you don’t stop fighting. I will get to you but if that ever happens, Tim, if you’re ever taken, you will need to be the bravest you’ve ever been. You’ll need to remember that I’m on my way to get you, and you’ll need to try to rescue yourself anyway.” Tim had really tried. He had. But he was so. Fucking. Tired. Or: When a caged bird can't even sing, what's left for them? Tim's been taken, and after everything it starts to feel like maybe the hardest part will be going back home.
