Fics like tomorrow's light will stain the world

Chihiro doesn’t get tagged. Chihiro only blinks at him blankly when Hakuri asks for his arm so he can register him. His tag is bound to have already been burned off in the aftermath of the fight with his father. Energy is energy, but the existence of another’s person’s energy inside of you—no matter how small it is—feels weird when you can pinpoint it. The tag doesn’t mesh with the person’s spirit energy. Instead, it lays on top, like a bandaid. An itch to never be scratched until you burn it off. And yet— “Still have mine.” Chihiro says bluntly. “Huh.” Hakuri spills it out before he can reign himself in, confusion evident in his face. “Look closer.” Chihiro’s tone edges somewhere towards amusement and exasperation. Hakuri looks closer and— There it is. Or a look on Hakuri, after his family.
