Minho’s eyes lingered on the door as Hyunjin left, and after a moment they fell on the painting the younger worked on while filming. There was a feeling spreading in his chest, one that he could not name yet. It enveloped him like a blanket, though it offered none of the comfort of one. A mix of want, regret, love and hopelessness, and maybe something more, something even stronger, though undoubtedly painful. He would later learn it is called yearning. But at that moment, still unknown to him and hardly experienced before, it overwhelmed Minho the same way it did that late spring night, only weeks before, his lungs constricting from the pressure and the cough that tore through him and burned his throat. Before his eyes, in his hands were three purple petals. It started happening more often after that, not often enough to raise any concerns for anyone else, he hoped, but it was getting harder to hide it and even more so to rationalise it. But he still chose to push it to the back of his mind, hoping that if he didn’t give any attention to the cough it would disappear as suddenly as it started.
