Fics like The Mimic

Once upon a time, in the distant lands of Tumblr, I got this prompt: "You’re a mimic. You were disguised as a chair in a dungeon when an adventurer decided to take you as loot. You’ve actually enjoyed your life ever since as furniture in a jolly tavern. So when some ruffians try to rob the now-elderly adventurer’s business, you finally reveal yourself." I wrote the first part of the story below in 2-3 hours in answer to it. I do love it, and it reminded me that I love writing, that I can still write. I had my doubts for a while. I kept on writing other things at the time, but the second part wrote itself in my head, and made a lot of noise, and in the end I had to get it out so I could focus on other things. I do love it, as well. I hope you will too. I was incredibly honored that an author here, Odonata, created a podfic of Part One. I recommend it with all my heart.
