Fics like Crossing the Crossroad

Ruli had always been reckless, and proud of it. So why does she feel more like Higacchi these days? Cowering and hesitating so easily… and over something as stupid as her partner naturally evolving? Why couldn’t she look at his current form, and just hug him like before? Why does her chest twitch every time she— ....... Why couldn’t have things just remained simple? As if figuring out what to do for the rest of her life, as college loomed ever closer, wasn’t confusing enough already, she has to deal with a part of growing up she never cared before previously. All while her partner is suffering with a messed up evolution cycle— something she has come to believe is her fault as well— because life just had to make her miss the days of weekly Hologram Ghosts that much. A story of what it means to be partners, when a digimon isn’t forced to leave their human while they’re still children, and when you choose each other instead of it being a force of destiny.
