Fics like Ginger

Puss in Boots was known for his really very really many aliases, but there was one that preceded them all: ‘Ginger’. The name, having been given to him by his mentor, carried the same mixture of fondness and resentment that colored their entire relationship. But names and people are funny things, in the way they soften with time. While Puss had grown in skill, he also grew closer to his maestro. ‘Ginger’ lost its sour tinge. It was no longer just a silly name, but a shared history and a symbol of the bond between master and apprentice. There was only one thing that kept eating at Puss, even now, years after first parting with his teacher. Where did the name even come from?
