Fics like Our Kindred

Kong sighed. “I’m not ready to give up yet.” “As is your right.” “I have no home,” Kong continued, as if he hadn’t heard him. “I have outgrown my island, which has still not recovered since the great storm. My people are dead but for Jia, and the Skull Crawlers had all but died out even before I left. I have no purpose; I am lost.” It wasn’t quite so dire as that, but Godzilla did not say so. This wasn’t a battle he could fight for Kong; no amount of reassurance would help until Kong was ready to hear it. “Then I wish you luck in the Core, and I hope you find what you’re looking for.” Home, family, purpose, whatever it was that drove Kong forward. (Or, an exploration of family, in all shapes and sizes and species.)
