Fics like The Wild Things

“I've gotta head back,” he says, pointing a thumb in the general direction of his house. “This was fun. It was really nice meeting you.” And strangely enough, it was. Dick is funny, smart, and witty, and they hit it off as if they've known each other for years instead of just one day. But Tim doesn't want to make any more friends he's going to miss, so he doesn't offer his number, and Dick doesn't ask. Instead, he waves goodbye with a fond smile and dives back into the water as Tim turns around to walk home. It's Tim's last summer in California with Kon before his parents arrive to whisk him away to New Jersey, and he's totally handling it fine. Really, he is. Though he would feel better if strange older boys with no shoes would stop trying to befriend him. Not when he's leaving California behind in two months. (Life has a way of giving you what you need.)
