Fics like Hesitation

"So, as Asbel was shot out of the sky, he fully expected to die--blown up in midair, or smashed into pieces on impact. He couldn’t steer, couldn’t do anything. He was going to die. It only took him a moment longer to realize that the same had to be true for his sister--she couldn’t possibly have survived that crash, no one could, and the dress she’d been taken in had been red anyway. It wasn’t her that he saw. Maybe it was a hallucination, or maybe he had mistaken her for someone else, but either way he had hesitated over nothing. At least he got to take some of those Tolmekian bastards with him. His death wouldn't be completely in vain." -- A little character study of Asbel, and his perspective of his first meeting with Nausicaä!
