Fics like Making Contact

Fresh from the battle with the Cylon colony, Starbuck's jump coordinates put the damaged Battlestar Galactica in orbit around a blue-green planet. A new Chief of Staff in the two-term Bartlet Administration tries to shepherd her country—and her planet—through an unprecedented diplomatic and military engagement. An ailing Laura Roslin is determined to lead her people to their promised land, if it's the last thing she does. The future of Earth is at stake. The future of the Colonials is at stake. The science and history they each canonize starts to crumble faster than new paradigms can be built.
