Fics like (i am not afraid) to keep on living

“My name is Luke,” Luke introduces. “And I… I’d really appreciate it if you could shoot me.” There’s a long moment where the man doesn’t react. No acceptance or rejection, no words at all, not even a tilt of his helmet. He only stands there and stares, and Luke can’t tell which one of them he’s looking at—can’t tell anything, really, of what he might be feeling, hidden behind the visor. His stance projects him as strong and confident and nothing else, and Luke finds himself sorely missing the connection of another person’s gaze, even a stranger’s, even one who he’s just asked to kill him. Finally, just when Luke is starting to wonder if he’s going to have to beg for the dignity of his own death, the man asks, “Couldn’t do it yourself?” It’s callous and awful and kind of fucked up, and it makes Luke laugh, just a little. — There is something about the universe, Luke Skywalker believes, that is relentlessly determined to keep him alive, whether he wants to be or not. It takes shape in the form of Din Djarin.
