Fics like We’ll Carry On

Over a year after Kyojuro’s death, Akaza cannot shake the feeling of having made a mistake by killing him. Curiosity draws him to the Rengoku Estate, where he discovers that Kyojuro has a younger brother. Naturally, he seizes the opportunity to have a different but surely equally skilled person to fight, and kidnaps Senjuro. Upon discovering that Senjuro is not, in fact, a skilled fighter, hope and boredom compel Akaza to mould the boy into a worthy opponent. Senjuro, hopeful for a chance (however slim it might be) to avenge his brother, agrees to stay. For the next two years, they form a bond based on tension, skill, growth, promises, and lies. In the end, their goals and futures will be forever changed by having known and cared for one-another.
