Fics like I Hold with those who Favor Fire

The most common way to gain access to the Netherrealm is for one to possess a tainted soul. For Harriet Potter, the Horcrux housed in her scar is enough for her to disappear whenever the Dursleys are in an especially foul mood. The Netherrealm isn’t scary when Hanzo is there, and it’s easy to be happy when she’s with the Shirai Ryu. It’s easy to be a family when she’s with them. If only the thought of witchcraft and wizardry didn’t remind her of stories about Quan Chi and Shang Tsung. The wizards were foolish, though, they wouldn’t even acknowledge that Mortal Kombat and the Netherrealm War were real. Or: Harriet Potter frequently falls into the Netherrealm throughout her childhood, under the protection of Hanzo Hasashi of the Shirai Ryu, once the wraith Scorpion.
