Fics like you know what they say

“Have you heard the saying about what each year of law school is like?” “I’m not sure what you’re referring to.” “The first year they scare you to death,” Alex began, counting on her fingers. “The second year, they work you to death. The third year, they bore you to death.” “...Sorry, but what’s the advice?” The waitress came back and handed Alex the checkbook. As she signed the receipt, Alex delivered her most searing remark without even looking. “The advice is this: try and look a little less like a cornered animal when you’re caught off-guard. It’ll put you ahead of the curve.” (Or: Casey's three years of law school told through her relationship with her mentor, Alexandra Cabot.)
