The newest prince of the sea was a tiny thing Mayamiko thought. As skinny as he was small, the boy barely reached his fathers hip. It was hard to tell how old the boy was from a glance. Unlike undersea children, humans didn’t change colouring to indicate physical maturity and age. While a typical mer-child would start brightly coloured (mainly so their parents wouldn’t lose them in the darkness of the sea) before fading darker patterning in their teens, humans seemed to only indicate age through height and unseen changes (highly unreliable if you asked him). 4th part and set before Eyes are the window to the soul :)
