Fics like I’ll Meet Judgement by the Hounds
Gotham is just a city. She has no mind, no soul, no body with which to reach out for her children. But in a split-second flash of time, she is as real as a mother clutching her child, only long enough to let him go. Timothy Drake’s heart stops in the deserts of Iraq, surrounded by the bodies of the only connections to his humanity that he still had. It beats again on the corner of 53rd and Oxford, Gotham City, New Jersey. Or, Tim's many emotions as he re-learns what it's like to have a home.
