Fics like The Face that Worshiped the Sun

Before she was the most hated woman in history, Helen of Sparta was a young woman ready to marry at her father’s command. As rumor spread of her eligibility, Helen’s father commissions a convoy of kings to escort her to the temple of Delphi to seek the oracle’s guidance as to whom she should marry. Upon the convoy’s arrival, Helen discovers that the childhood friend who wronged her, Meneh Atreus, is to accompany her on the voyage. Over time, Helen discovers that hatred and desire can burn with the same heat. Amongst the people traveling with Helen is Petra, a young woman rescued from slavery by the king of Ithaca, Odysseus. While Petra and Odysseus have a complicated and toxic relationship, Petra can’t escape the way she is drawn to him. Even though Petra is in love with Odysseus, she cannot deny the bond she has with her best friend, Ajax. As the convoy travels to Delphi, relationships are tested, gods intervene, and boundaries are tested as women fight for their right to be heard while powerful men try to smother their voices.
