Fics like Soaring Ever Higher

John "Trigger" MacTavish is a fighter pilot, and a damn good one. During one mission, he's paired with Ghost of the infamous TF141. Ghost is to paint the target for Trigger from the ground. It doesn't go as smooth as it should, and Trigger ends up saving Ghost's life. Back on the base, Ghost finds out that Trigger is not quite what he expected him to be. Ghost looks up, into the vast expanse of clear blue sky. To be honest, he never paid too much attention to it. His fight is and has always been on the ground. Now, he can’t help but wonder: how does being up there feel? There is no ground to support you, no cover to help you, no nothing, just you, the mission, and almost endless space. Is it freeing or terrifying? Maybe both? Maybe he will ask MacTavish, if they cross paths again...
