Fics like Empty Places

Life on Mars is challenging for the 428 humans who volunteered to be among the first to collonize the inhospitable planet. Things become more challenging when the crew mysteriously loses contact with Earth and misses their regularly scheduled supply ship. Callum tries to stay focused on his work and not worry too much about what could be happening, but when he discovers several of his crewmates missing he gets answers to the questions he was avoiding asking. The Colvarians have no ill intentions when they rescue a handful of creatures from a nearly barren planet. The creatures are clearly suffering, nearly extinct, and in need of help. Plus, they might just make the cutest pets they’ve ever seen. More research needs to be done before a full domestication mission can take place. First the Colvarians must determine if these creatures can be trained and if they can survive in captivity. Ekleth, a domestication researcher, is thrilled to be leading the team in researching this rare and endangered species.
