Fics like "Big"

Mao Mao had walked into the house feeling "big". His father had finally validated him. He finally said his name right. He finally got to prove that he was worth something. The feeling had made his chest puff up with pride. But as he waited for the water to heat up, his feelings were starting to cool, getting heavy and dropping. He had just been feeling great a second ago! Why was he feeling this way? Was it not enough? Isn't this everything he wanted? Mao Mao finally gets approval from his father, everything he’s ever wanted. But one simple acknowledgment isn’t enough to undo years of trauma. Everything only stands to remind him how inadequate he is. (Takes place after the Episode “Small”)
