Fics like hold out for summer again

“Nah, it’s fine, I—“ Wait, what was that? Bucky stopped in his tracks. He’d heard something, something that didn’t fit with the usual ambient clamor of the city, something that had all his instincts on edge. “Buck? You there? Hello?” “Yeah, sorry, I just heard something.” A whimper? A baby crying? There it was again, a soft and agonizingly pleading little sound that sounded hurt and scared. “Shit, it’s the aliens,” said Sam. “Buck, be careful—“ “You literally just said there was no alien invasion situation,” said Bucky absently, turning slowly until he could pinpoint the sound better. There. A cat—or more accurately, a kitten. Bucky finds a cat that might be more than it seems. Sam and Bucky find a home together, and that might be more than it seems too.
