Raphael’s face remains stony, but Alec thinks he sees the vampire's eyebrows twitch. “Children of Maryse and Robert Lightwood?” It feels like a weighted question. Alec hesitates, but Jace speaks up before he can decide how to answer. “Why? What have you done to them?!” he yells. Alec tenses, ready for the strike, but it never comes. Raphael merely shrugs. “I didn’t do anything to them, but they’re dead. Along with all the other nephilim who followed Valentine into this war.” Alec vision tunnels. The same word repeats like a broken record in his ears. Dead dead dead dead dead. They’re dead.
