David looks up too, if only to see what she sees. In an attempt to understand her, he tries to see as she does. To think as she does, to feel as she does. Every time he believes her to be completely figured out by him, he finds, or she reveals, a new knot, a new loop in the wondrous maze of her brain. He supposes some people would find that strange, or even calculatingly machiavellian of her, that she would hide things from him, from people. As if she owes the tabloids and papers her secrets and body laid bare for reporters to poke and pull at.
