Fics like Species 8472

On her mission to the Borg Cube in “Collective,” Seven encounters three non-humanoid juvenile drones. Species 8472, a small reptilian species discovered by their proximity to a transwarp signature and assimilated for their unique genetic structure. Their presence is hardly noteworthy. Tom Paris reacts differently. As does the Captain. And she follows the girl away. The lizard-drone follows after a moment, waddling slowly and often looking back. With her Borg-enhanced hearing, Seven catches snippets of her crewmates’ conversation. “Those are definitely your kids.” Happy Threshold Day!
