Fics like it doesn’t feel nice to be this sane

He feels so alive, he feels reborn. As the elevator moves, he leans against the wall and laughs, starting off quietly before breaking out into near hysterics, using one of his hands to push back the hair that falls in front of his face. He’s won. Finally, finally, he’s out of that awful place, after who knows how much time has passed. He’s so glad that who he was before all this is so naive despite all of the dying, of all the tricks and the traps and the dangers here. The sheer sensation of something new, of movement beneath his feet, things on the wall to run his hand over, there’s so much for him to take in right now. His other hand opens and closes the scissors a little faster than usual. - - - The doppelgängers successfully trick their apparent originals, and so they continue to go through all of the floors in an attempt to finally free themselves. Naturally, this means they have to make a stop on Floor 4, and the doppelgänger of the protagonist is equally as unhappy as this as his original would be.
