Fics like like a moth to a flame

“Nothing good will come of it. You must take that emotion and you must bury it. Never let it out.” The Captain is forced to confront his feelings about Havers after his old diary is discovered. He relives the past and lets it intertwine with the present as he finally learns to embrace himself, realising his story didn’t end where he thought it did. Nor did his Lieutenant’s. -- (a hearty, angsty and overly romanticised rendition of canon with a little more clarity and closure.)
