Fics like the sun must set to rise

Luffy reaches up and cups Ace’s face in his hand. Ace lets out a choked sound, reaching up and pressing it closer. This isn’t- this isn’t how it was supposed to go. Luffy wasn’t supposed to- Luffy lets out one last breath. His hand slips from Ace’s face. His head falls back limply, a small smile on his face. And something in Ace shatters. - A smile spreads across Luffy’s face, and it’s almost unnatural with how wide it is. Ace has seen Luffy smile a million times, but- none have looked like this. And- against Ace’s wildest hopes- Luffy’s eyes shoot open.
