Fics like one single thread of gold tied me to you

“Does it… make you frightened about your soulmate? Or add more stress for you to find… them?” Alex runs a hand through his hair and stops at his neck, squeezing. The pressure keeps him held together as he listens to Henry’s breathing on the other end of the line. “A little. I don’t want to – I can’t get it wrong like they did. Not that I’m not happy to exist or whatever, but everything is so strained any time we’re all in the same fucking room. I just don’t want that.” “I’m sure…” Henry hesitates. “I’m sure your soulmate will be the most wonderful thing, Alex. I can’t imagine anyone destined to be with you ever doing anything other than… well, other than loving you completely.” ---- Or, in a universe where soulmates are identified through matching soul marks, it isn't always as easy as just finding the match.
