Fics like Of Few Words

“Can't believe you’ve got a tattoo for me,” Stede whispers, throat swollen from his silly, besotted tears. “Because of me. That's just–” And then it's Ed who pulls back, tilting his head in what looks like…confusion? “Wait,” he says, with an eyebrow raised. “What do you mean, a tattoo because of you?” Stede pulls back, too. He is equally confused. Ed squints at him. “You said ‘a tattoo',” Ed reiterates, inexplicably emphasising the ‘a’. “I mean. I understand why this one might get a bigger reaction, or whatever. I get it's maybe more meaningful than the others. But–” “Hang on,” Stede interjects, his brain snagging on ‘this one’. On ‘the others’. The others? What does that mean? (OR: Three months post-innkeepers, and Stede has yet to recognise the significance of several of Ed's tattoos. Fluff & Feels. Two-shot.)
